Cards have already arrived.

In addition to the traditional Aunt Mary gifts, this year we sent out Aunt Mary Christmas cards. We are awaiting photos of them on the mantels in recipients' homes, where we are told at least two currently reside.

Aunt Mary gifts, Engage!

Most went out today at an expense of about $40 postage. Still, a fantastic value. I have a few left over, and I'm toying with the idea of sending them to complete strangers. Recruiting.

I have to say, the turnout is disappointing.

A couple of hundred views of the youtube Aunt Mary video and no one signs up? Am I deluded? Is my family the only one with an Aunt Mary? I cannot accept that.

Well, I will forge ahead, ever committed to Aunt Maryism, especially in this house-of-cards economy.

I want to report that we experienced an Aunt Mary miracle this weekend. Sadly, I can't tell you about it until after Christmas. But trust me. Her spirit touched us. In a junk store.

Origins of Aunt Maryism in one family.

My late Aunt Mary was always a little odd, and as she grew older, looking increasingly like a founding father in mink, her strangeness blossomed. We only saw her around Christmas, at which time either my sisters or I would have to drive to her house and help her load her gaudy gold Cadillac with gifts and inedible dinner contributions.
